Advise senior management on initiatives, programs, policies, and standards relating to claims medical management. Initiate the development of innovative programs and policies to provide the best possible medical care to injured workers, control medical costs, and prevent medical fraud. Maintain comprehensive and current expertise regarding the diagnosis and treatment of work injuries, medical issues relating to workers compensation, and medical cost management. Analyze industry data and Company data and performance to identify opportunities for improvement and develop initiatives to meet those opportunities. Serve as the Medical Director of the Companys utilization review program with responsibility for the decisions and recommendations of that program, including the peer review component of that program. Ensure that appropriate medical providers are selected and retained by the Companys medical networks for the treatment of injured workers. Provide medical direction for the Companys pharmaceutical management program. Provide medical direction for the Companys medical bill review program. Prepare and present medical training for Company staff. Provide medical information and advice to Company staff on claims/medical issues, including claims adjusters, case managers, attorneys, lien representatives, and members of the special investigations unit.
